Lance McRorie is a professional glass artist whose passion is creating beautiful works of art glass. Lance is adept at many facets of lampworking, such as sculpting, marbles, pendants, murrini, and his favorite area of expression, hollow forms. Glass provides Lance with an outlet for his artistic ideas as well as a zen-like refuge in which he immerses himself. His art is inspired by nature and the patterns and the forms he sees in the sea, the sky, and the earth. His ideas come from everywhere, books, movies, video games, as well as other people, animals, cars, and planes. He likes playing with motion, lines, and movement- creating a path for your eyes to follow. Fantasy characters and animals are often portrayed in his work. He greatly enjoys creating stemware and goblets.
Lance has been flameworking with his wife, Maureen, since 1999. He has studied under some of the field’s most notable artists. The couple own and operate FlameTree Glass in Roswell, Georgia. Lance is the primary instructor, teaching lampwork classes from beginner to advanced techniques. Lance has a dedication to glass that is contagious, and he greatly enjoys sharing his love and knowledge of hot glass with others.
