Jared & Nicole Davis

Jared & Nicole’s journey through glass began in 1995, when Jared first walked into a job at K Dahl Glass Studios. He was introduced to Swedish glass masters, Jan-Erik Ritzman and Sven Åke Carlsson, who invited him to study with them in Transjö, Sweden for two years. Together, Jared and Nicole packed their bags and set off for Sweden.

During the two-year intensive Jared was able to study many aspects of Swedish glass blowing and design. The apprenticeship with Ritzman and Carlsson proved to be invaluable. He had been given an opportunity to learn from the first European glass masters to ever teach in the United States.

Although, Nicole was busy with their two small sons, she made time to work on product designs and her hot shop experience. A glass blowing course at the Kosta Boda Glass School and the occasional invitation to assist at Transjö Hytta were important tools in furthering Nicole’s education which she would eventually use to assist Jared once home in Colorado.

When the apprenticeship ended in July 1998. Davis then returned to Colorado with his family to become an active glass blower and designer for K Dahl Glass Studios. In 2001 Jared started his own business and then in 2005 he opened the doors of their own hot shop.

When working with blown glass, he is working with a molten material, which follows a viscous path according to where it is hottest and coolest. During his apprenticeship Davis mastered some of the more difficult shapes by learning to control the glass in its most difficult form. Jared is inspired by the vast beauty, by which he is surrounded, in western Colorado. Most of his works contain many earthen tones. By using his Fission technique that is layering numerous colors and using a special crackle process, he has created a recognizable design, which results in unique one of a kind works of art. He currently sends his work to galleries all over the world and focuses solely on his designs
