Dave Jordan/James Spehler Works

Two of Colorado’s premier hand blown glasses artists.  They have over 35 years of combined glassmaking experience, which shows in their quality of work, attention to detail, and use of design and color.

Glass sculptor James Spehler is a lover of nature and wildlife.  Living in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado has given him knowledge of and a deep appreciation for wildlife and their habitat.  The great power and inspiration he finds in nature are blended into James’s life and work through his intense passion to capture the realism of wildlife in his glass sculptures.  By showing the fine lines and details of animal anatomy, his work depicts the spirit and movements of life found in the animal world.

Hot glass artist Dave Jordan is also a lover of nature and is inspired by the pristine beauty in the southwest mountains in which he has lived for over twenty years.  Influenced by the early masters of Venetian glass art, Dave has developed a unique style of glass blowing technique that involves the use of mixing colored glass to create original and contemporary designs.  The shapes and form and use of color in Dave’s glass is unprecedented, and his highly skilled achievement has earned him worldwide recognition by having his work included in the permanent collection of the Corning Museum of Glass, New York.

Jordan and Spehler have collaborated to create unique and exceptional glassworks.  Their work is enjoyed by glass lovers and collectors throughout the country and beyond.

The artists work closely together to create sculpture, goblets, paperweights, ornaments, marbles, and beads.  The glass is handmade by using the technique of flameworking/lampworking.  It involves the process of heating glass rod and tubing in an intense 2200 degree Fahrenheit flames of a large torch.  The glass is then blown and manipulated, melting into the desired form that the artists envision.
